Ingredients
1 bottle red wine (blend or table wine is good or whatever you have on hand)
2 large cinnamon sticks
1 heaped tbsp whole cloves
4 to 5 orange slices
1 tbsp allspice
A pinch of nutmeg
2 cups fresh orange juice (or water if flavor is too bold)
4 tbsp brown sugar, or to taste
Instructions
In a large saucepan warm the wine cinnamon, cloves and orange slices on a low heat, stirring occasionally – do not let it boil.
Once it has reached a warm-hot temperature and steam is beginning to rise, add in the rest of the ingredients (all spice, nutmeg, orange juice (or water) and sugar.) Stir until sugar has fully dissolved.
